Getting to know SPMA Council's First Year Reps!

Madelyn Grossi

Where are you from?

Keswick, Ontario

Why did you choose Brock SPMA?

It was the perfect mix between sport and business, two things that I am interested in. It is also similar to my high school in regard to the teaching focus and how the content is taught. I also love being surrounded by like-minded individuals.

Do you have a goal that you want to accomplish during your time at Brock?

Not necessarily, I just want to make the most of my experience, do well and get involved. Through this I can hopefully make connections and gain experience that will help me in the future.

What do you want to do when you graduate?

That is still an undefined question for me. Right now, I am keeping my options open, and seeing what opportunities I have. I do know that psychology is one of my interests and sport psychology is an option for me in the future. In my eyes, mental health in athletes is a big issue and it will never go away, so being able to help athletes get in a good mindset would be of interest for me.

What are you most looking forward to, during you time on SPMA Council?

I am most looking forward to the friendships, events and learning experiences. I am excited to grow as a leader and provide my insight on council about topics or events to make sure that everyone has a memorable and enjoyable time. Council to me, as I have experienced in the past is meant to be a big family, and in the few short weeks that I have been involved I can already see that demonstrated by the other members.

Where are you from?

I was born in the Yunnan Province of China and I moved to Canada as an infant. I’m doing my 1st semester courses online, at home in Ottawa, ON.

Why did you choose Brock SPMA?

I discovered the SPMA program online when I was in grade 7. Throughout high school I continued to come back to it as a program I could see myself really enjoying it. By the time university applications were due, SPMA was still my first choice. I knew it was the program for me as it linked business with the sport industry.

Do you have a goal that you want to accomplish during your time at Brock?

My goals are to do well in the SPMA program, make as many memories as possible by being involved in student activities at Brock, and making lifelong connections with as many people as I can.

What do you want to do when you graduate?

After graduation, I plan to attend law school so I can follow my dream of becoming a sport agent and represent NHL players in their contract negotiations.

What are you most looking forward to, during you time on SPMA Council?

I am looking forward to helping organize and promote SPMA events that will expand SPMA members’ interests, knowledge, and networks. It will be great to meet many other students and guest speakers who also have an interest in the sports industry. I am hoping to make my four years at Brock fun and memorable.

What do you want to do when you graduate?

Graduation is pretty far away, so I am not entirely sure just yet! However, my dream career is to be a part of the Game Operations department for one of MLSE’s many professional sports teams. Another option for me is applying to law school after graduating, and potentially becoming a sports agent.

What are you most looking forward to, during your time on SPMA Council?

I am looking forward to participating in all the great events that SPMA Council puts out for the Brock Community. I enjoy providing fun experiences for others and myself, and I believe the SPMA Council events team does exactly that. I especially can’t wait until we are all on campus so that we can host our events in-person!
